The brickwork is laid with care so that the texture of the wall becomes the ornament, and the house is otherwise kept plain. Inside, the plan steps with the site: a travertine-clad platform and a short run of oak stairs connect the kitchen to the rooms beyond, and the kitchen itself is organised around a long island of pale, diagonally veined marble set on a brass plinth. Pale oak joinery lines one wall and a dark bronze hood sits over the cooking bench, with the same marble carried up the splashback. Furniture and finishes stay within a narrow range of oak, travertine and linen, so the rooms read as one calm, consistent whole. Built by Mazzei, with landscape by Nathan Burkett Landscape Architecture and photography by Timothy Kaye; completed in 2026.
